Harris Irwin’s application for a new housing development at Scorton was approved unanimously last night at a meeting of the Richmondshire Council Planning Committee. Submitted on behalf of The Orchard Rutherford Building & Development Co., the scheme is located on a vacant playing field located behind the Scorton Medical Centre.
This new development will see 12 two-storey houses built with associated garages and private gardens. These will vary between two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses and will meet affordable housing policy expectations. There will also be improvements to the adjacent infrastructure for pedestrians.
The houses have been arranged around a central courtyard to reflect the appearance of a traditional farmstead. At the heart of the scheme, there will be a small park and play area for children. In order to integrate the development to the existing village, the houses will be built using red brickwork and pan tile roofing. We are very much looking forward to the finished development and will keep this space updated.
