Dementia Forward Tan Hill Challenge

A team of five from Harris Irwin completed the Tan Hill Challenge in support of Dementia Forward, a charity that provides invaluable support, advice, and information to people affected by dementia across North Yorkshire.
We are delighted to have raised £690 for this fantastic cause after taking on the demanding 15-mile circular walk, which featured steep climbs, rugged terrain and plenty of determination! Setting off from Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in England at 1,732 feet above sea level, we were treated to some of the Yorkshire Dales’ most spectacular scenery, with stunning views across upper Swaledale and stretches of both the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast trails.
Our fundraising page remains open, and we would be incredibly grateful for any further donations to support the outstanding work of Dementia Forward – Donate to Tan Hill Challenge – supported by Harris Irwin Architects – Give as you Live Donate
As specialists in care home design, we were proud to sponsor such a worthwhile event and help raise funds for a cause that is particularly close to our hearts. Designing dementia-friendly environments is central to our work, enabling people to maintain their dignity, independence, and quality of life in safe, familiar, and welcoming surroundings.
We are looking forward to hearing the final fundraising total from the 50+ walkers who took part. Congratulations to everyone who completed the challenge and a huge thank you to the team at Dementia Forward for organising such a fabulous event.
And finally, special thanks must go to the ‘Weather Gods’ who at the last minute (just as we were setting off!) changed the forecast from heavy rain and gale-force winds to a fine day with a strong breeze, making it a much more pleasurable day.
